If you have a touch screen, here are some common actions you can use to get around your device in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open the charms. There's a charm for searching, sharing through email or social networks, going back to start, connecting to a device, like a printer, or changing your settings. Another option for searching is to tap the Search button on the Start screen. You can also go back to Start by tapping the Windows logo key on your keyboard. Or, from the desktop, tap the Start button in the lower left corner. If you're using more than one app, you can quickly go back to the last one you were using by swiping in from the edge of your screen. Keep swiping to see more apps. To see a list of your recent apps, slide in from the left edge without lifting your finger. Then, push back towards the left edge. You can pinch to zoom out and stretch to zoom in on the screen. For example, on the Start screen, zoom out to see all your tiles. Or, in a document, zoom in to make it easier to read. To see the commands for an app, swipe in from the top or bottom edge of the screen. Or, if you want to see the commands for a specific item, select it by swiping an item in the opposite direction you can scroll. If the page scrolls up and down, swipe across the item. If the page scrolls left and right, swipe down on the item. If you're in the desktop, press and hold an item to see its shortcut menu. If you want to close an app, drag the app from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. [MUSIC PLAYING]
